What does “cookie” mean?
A cookie is a file that is downloaded to your computer when you access certain websites. Cookies allow a website, among other things, to store and retrieve information about a user’s browsing habits or their device, and depending on the information they contain and how the user interacts with their device, they can be used to recognize the user.
Are all cookies the same?
No. There are many types of cookies, depending on their purpose and how long they remain installed on your device. Some are only installed during the session, while others can stay for years. Based on these criteria, some cookies require the user’s consent to be installed, while others do not (exempted cookies). Exempted cookies include, among others, those that are essential for enabling communication between your computer and our servers, allowing you to navigate our website more quickly without collecting protected data about you. There are also first-party cookies and third-party cookies.
What cookies do we use?
Depending on their purpose, cookies are divided into groups. The main groups of cookies, so you can familiarize yourself with them, are:
- Technical cookies: These are the ones that allow the user to navigate through a website, platform, or application. They also enable the use of different options or services available, such as: controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering the items in an order, completing the checkout process, registering or participating in an event, using security features during browsing, storing content for video or audio streaming, or sharing content through social media.
- Personalization cookies: These allow the user to access the service with some predefined general features based on a series of criteria on the user’s device, such as: language, the type of browser used to access the service, the regional configuration from where the service is accessed, etc.
- Analytics cookies: These are the ones, processed by us or by third parties, that allow us to quantify the number of users and perform statistical measurement and analysis of how users use the offered service. This helps us analyze their browsing on our websites to improve the range of products or services we offer.
- Advertising cookies: These allow the most effective management of the advertising spaces that, if applicable, the publisher has included in a website, application, or platform providing the requested service based on criteria such as the edited content or the frequency of ad displays.
- Behavioral advertising cookies: These are the ones, processed by us or by third parties, that allow us to effectively manage the advertising spaces on the website, tailoring the content of the ad to the requested service content or to the user’s use of our websites. To do this, we may analyze your browsing habits on the internet and show you ads related to your browsing profile.
