Design and development of the comprehensive regeneration plan for the villa of Teguise

With the Integrated Sustainable Urban Development Strategy (EDUSI) Villa de Teguise Regenera, we contributed to enhancing the heritage and the economy, society and territory of this municipality in Lanzarote.

THE CHALLENGE

Teguise faces significant challenges due to its urban sprawl across 23 population centres, reliance on private vehicles and a local economy heavily dependent on seasonal and low-skilled tourism. Additionally, it lacks the adequate facilities and necessary infrastructure to support its integral development.

THE SOLUTION

At Khora, we supported Teguise City Council in designing and developing the EDUSI, including revising its planning framework and indicators, designing strategic action lines and preparing the final report. The strategy aims to provide the Villa of Teguise with the necessary infrastructure to serve as an administrative centre, complemented by initiatives such as digitalization of services, pedestrianization, energy efficiency improvements, heritage enhancement and economy revitalization through commerce, leisure and culture activities. This strategy is submitted in 2017 to the third ERDF call issued by the Ministry of Finance.
