Narrative and strategy to make Seville the European Capital of Smart Tourism 2023

Seville has cultivated a distinctive and sustainable approach to tourism over the years. To showcase this achievement and present its candidacy as European Capital of Smart Tourism 2023, the City Council sought the support of Khora to define a unique and distinctive narrative. This led to the creation of “Sharing Is Smart”, with the “shared city” and the “visitor´s economy” as conceptual pillars, Seville was selected among over 50 competing cities. 

THE CHALLENGE 

The tourism team of the Seville City Council aimed to submit a solid and compelling candidacy that highlights its advances in smart and sustainable tourism, for which it sought Khora’s collaboration. 

THE SOLUTION 

From March to November 2022, we collaborated with the Sevilla City Office team and other City Council departments to design an inspiring narrative, create a clear strategy and develop an engaging presentation. With the claim “Sharing Is Smart”, we highlighted a sustainable urban tourism approach that harmonizes the needs of residents and visitors. This comprehensive approach convinced the jury, and on November 9, 2022, Seville was awarded the title of European Capital of Smart Tourism 2023 (EU Capital of Smart Tourism 2023). Khora accompanied the City Council team throughout the entire process, up to the final presentation to the jury.
